Inauguration of collaborative cross sector project

Sir Alan Langlands, Martin Bean, Prof David Vincent

Representatives from across the sector joined the Higher Education Shared Solutions project team in celebrating its launch on the 15th March 2010. The day commenced with presentations on each branch of the project and was followed by a reception.

Speaking at the reception, Sir Alan Langlands commended The Open University’s national role activity, noting its ability to capitalise on its ‘regional presence, expertise and affinity with the student body’.

Launch of Shared Solutions

A reception is being held to launch Higher Education Shared Solutions on Monday 15 March 2010 in The Open University’s newly refurbished Hub Suite at its Walton Hall campus. Presentations from the project teams will showcase work being undertaken to identify solutions to sector-wide problems. It will offer representatives from the  HE sector an opportunity to identify how the project can benefit their institution through collaborative engagement.

Academic Partnerships draws together collaborations across the higher education sector to develop solutions to shared problems for mutual benefit.  Activity is focused on three key areas – widening participation, creating efficiencies and enhancing the contributions of higher education to the economy and society (third stream opportunities).
